Indsights Research Project Featured in Humber College’s SVPA Guest Blog

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation when we remember the children who never returned home and honour survivors of residential schools including their families and communities. Public commemoration is a vital component of the reconciliation process and while this day is a powerful reminder, our commitment must transcend beyond one day.

Humber College is committed to fostering inclusivity and establishing an environment that acknowledges the historical and present circumstances of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Humber’s strategic, academic, and operational plans continue to prioritize Indigenous education. Working in concert with other College plans, Humber’s Indigenous Education Plan (IEP) outlines our longstanding commitment to ongoing and future development of programs and services in support of Indigenous learners, families, and communities.

In this week’s SVPA guest blog, Humber Professor Audrey Wubbenhorst and her team share their research project, which is opening a window into the Indigenous economy through storytelling. With support from the Government of Canada, they have partnered with the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) and Indigenous entrepreneurs to develop open-source education resources highlighting the successes and challenges of Indigenous businesses across Canada.
